Sentenced to Life

In El Campo, a man named Brandon James was found guilty of capital murder. He shot and killed Shane Singleton during a robbery in 2021. After a week-long trial, the jury convicted James. He’ll spend life in state prison, but because he’s 19, he could be eligible for parole in 40 years.

Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child

Wednesday evening, Bay City police arrested 49-year-old Humberto Sanchez at his home on 4th Street. He’s accused of sexually assaulting a child. The case started with a tip to Child Protective Services and ended with Sanchez in Matagorda County Jail. If he’s found guilty, he could spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Power Lifting Success

Bay City’s powerlifters rocked at the Division 2-Region 4 Championship. Three Blackcats qualified for the state meet, with Jakob Pesina winning the 275-pound class.
