The Empress 2816, a rare steam engine, chugged through Wharton County on Monday. People watched as it rolled through El Campo on its trip from Calgary to Mexico City. On March 22nd, the ER team successfully stabilized multiple critically injured patients after a major incident. Near Drowning

Matagorda County deputies and beachgoers rescued a man from drowning at Matagorda Beach on Saturday. Deputies were alerted to a possible drowning victim 75 to 100 yards out in the surf and with the help of bystanders, pulled him to shore. The man was flown to a hospital for treatment.
