Denial of application for Medicaid help

The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has rejected the state’s application to extend Medicaid coverage for new mothers from two months to six months. Texastribune.com says the agency offered no immediate reason for the rejection. The Governor said the decision risks the lives and health of Texas women and their babies.

Bay City gets new schools superintendent

We now know who will be the next superintendent of the Bay City Independent School District. The Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Dwight McHazlett Jr. as the superintendent this week. He replaces Bay City Superintendent Dr. Marshall Scott the third, who’s been at the helm of the district for five years.
