Juliet Flores, who graduated from Wharton High School last year, has achieved a perfect 4 point GPA in her first semester at the University of Alabama. This has earned her a spot on the President’s List. During the Fall semester, 13,950 students were named to either the Dean’s List or President’s List at the university.

Man Stabbed in Victoria

The police in Victoria got a call about a fight at Crockett Ave. They found a 61-year-old man stabbed near Sam Houston and Ben Jordan. The woman says she acted in self-defense. The man was taken to the hospital and is now stable – according to a Monday police report.

Car Theft Meat Swiping

Two guys were busted in Rosenberg for stealing a car and using it to swipe meat from grocery stores. One of them, Cornileus Davis, is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle. Man Survives Driveway Shooting

A man in Fort Bend County was shot at in his driveway after work Friday evening. The suspects fired multiple rounds at his truck, damaging it and injuring his arm. He managed to escape by ramming their car and driving away. The police are investigating, but no arrests have been made yet.

The Bay City Police are investigating a shooting at Joe’s Sports Bar. They got reports early Sunday morning. Sergeant Academy

Sergeant Ashley Strelec of Wharton Police Department is attending the 21st Texas Sergeant Academy in Sugar Land. This program, run by the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration, trains new leaders from 21 Texas agencies. The curriculum focuses on leadership, communication, ethics, and accountability. Since its inception in 2017, over 600 officers have graduated.

Texas Seniors Scholarship Offer

Texas high school seniors can win a $2,500 scholarship from the Carlson Law Firm. Apply online, share what motivates you in a short video or essay, and provide proof of enrollment. Apply by April 18th, winners announced April 22nd. The scholarship will be sent directly to the school for tuition and related costs.
