Lockdown at VVHS

Near Van Vleck High School, there was a highway accident. A staff member locked down the school to keep everyone safe. With fast help from VVISD Police and Administration, the lockdown ended quickly. Now, students and staff are back to their regular routines. The lockdown was a precaution to ensure everyone’s safety.

Woman arrested for drunk driving

In El Campo, a woman named Ashley Olguin, aged 25, is being held in Wharton County Jail. She’s accused of causing a fatal accident while driving intoxicated, and she’s facing charges of Intoxication Manslaughter with a Vehicle, along with two counts of Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle. Her bond is set at $1.3 million.

Crocker Wins Mayor

Duane Crocker, a councilman, became Victoria’s mayor on Saturday, beating five others. He’s surprised by his 61.40% win. Voter turnout was lower than the last mayoral election. Only 10.88% voted this time, compared to 13.56% last time. As mayor, Crocker plans to prioritize a five-year capital improvement project.
