Golf Cart Approval

The Bay City Council has given the green light for golf carts to be used in neighborhoods. The proposal, backed by the Police Chief and all council members except the Mayor, was passed on Tuesday. It comes with rules to ensure safety, and old laws that fined drivers $500 will be scrapped.

Wharton Rejects CenterPoint Proposal

Wharton City Council unanimously rejected CenterPoint Energy Texas Gas’s proposal to change utility rates. CenterPoint initially aimed to raise rates by $37.5 million, with residential rates increasing by $58.4 million and commercial rates decreasing by $21 million. Wharton City Manager Joe Pace bluntly expressed the city’s opposition to the rate change. .
