County Approves Grantworks

A new resolution was passed unanimously to have Grantworks oversee the construction of the Victoria Regional Emergency Operations Complex. The construction will begin next year. Victoria Judge Ben Zeller thanked Grant Administrator Robin Knipling and the staff for their work in selecting the right company to spearhead the project.

CEO Transition at Mid Coast

Brett Kirkham, who was the temporary CEO of Mid Coast Health System and El Campo Memorial Hospital, has now been made the permanent CEO. He stepped up from his previous role as COO about a year ago. The board parted ways with the former CEO, Nathan Tutor, due to differing visions.

Special Mayoral Election

The Victoria City Council plans to announce a special mayoral election on Feb. 3 during todays meeting. Current Mayor Jeff Bauknight is running for state representative, triggering the need for a new mayor. Food Drive Collaboration

Wharton School District, Just Do It Now, and Baines Blessing Box are teaming up for a food drive until Dec. 8th. Drop off canned goods, snacks, and toiletries at collection boxes at WISD campuses or the Education Service Center in Wharton. Spread holiday cheer by helping those in need!

El Campo Holiday Closure

El Campo City Hall is closed on Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving. Regular hours resume on Monday November 27th. Trash collection by Texas Disposal Systems is delayed by one day. Thursday’s pickup is on Friday, and Friday’s pickup is on Saturday. Remember to place your cart by the curb by 6:00 AM.

Food Handlers Course

Texas A&M is offering a food safety course on November 29th. It’s mandatory for all food workers in Texas to take this 2-hour course within 60 days of starting work. The $20 course covers hygiene, avoiding cross-contamination, and proper food temperatures. The certificate is valid for 2 years.
