Jury duty canceled

Victoria County residents called for jury duty at 8:30 a.m. on January 11th at the Justice of the Peace No. 2 can disregard the notice. The jury pool has been canceled and will not be rescheduled, according to a news release from District Clerk Kim Plummer’s office.

Holiday city closures

El Campo City Hall will be closed Friday, December 23rd and Monday, December 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Regular business hours will resume Tuesday, December 27, 2022. There will be no service interruptions for trash pickup. All routes will run as normally scheduled.

Bikes for Blue Santa

This month, Wharton County Foods, a Division of Cal-Maine Foods Inc. , donated 39 bicycles to the Wharton Police Department’s Blue Santa Toy Drive in Boling. The company’s operations and feed mill divisions financially partnered on the project in order to fulfill the request from the organization. The donation should result in 39 happy kids.

Arming ECISD staff plan

El Campo ISD trustees unanimously approved the first campus Guardian plans last week following a two-hour closed session, furthering efforts to allow employees to carry firearms in some, not yet outlined, capacity. State-recognized and certified instructors from Strategos International, a defense firm in Independence, Mo., have been selected to train school district employees.
