Cancels Jury Call

Wharton County residents who received a 23rd District Court jury summons card for Tuesday, Jan. 17th can disregard the notice. The case before District Judge Ben Hardin has been canceled. Residents who have received any other jury summons or jury duty notices are still expected follow instructions unless otherwise told by the assorted courts.

Burn ban

A burn ban was put in effect for Matagorda County as multiple fire calls were received and continued being received throughout the weekend. The Commissioners Court decided to uphold the ban until further notice during Monday’s meeting as there is no substantial rain expected any time soon.

Juror dismissed
