Live Sports Stream Approved

Ricebird and Ladybird sports events will soon be live-streamed. Trustees approved a free contract with the NFHS Network School Broadcast Program, funded by the Ricebird Booster Club. They’ll provide two AI cameras at Ricebird Stadium and the El Campo High School gym. Fans can watch by signing up for monthly or annual subscriptions on NFHS.

Veterans Day Events

Bay City High School invites veterans to join their Veterans Day event. Breakfast from 8:30 to 9:15 on Tuesday, followed by a parade on Saturday at 11 a.m. The parade route goes around the courthouse, and a celebration happens at the USO building afterward. Veterans can enjoy breakfast, door prizes, and more.

Glen Smith’s Passing News

Former Palacios mayor Glen Smith, a community leader, passed away at 71 after battling cancer. He served in the Navy for 12 years and earned a journalism degree from the University of West Florida. Smith’s career included power generation work and a stint as a TV sportscaster.

Truck flips, traffic unaffected

On Tuesday morning near Love’s Truck Stop in Hungerford, a big truck carrying a tank tipped over. Crews and the police were there to help. They used big trucks and cranes to flip the truck back over, but traffic on the highway was not affected.
