Water Emergencies Covered

Wharton’s volunteer firefighters trained last Thursday to handle potential emergencies involving the Colorado River, which borders the west side of the city. While they typically respond to road accidents, business incidents, and house fires, they are also prepared for water-related emergencies.

New District Superintendent

The Wharton ISD school board unanimously appointed Olatunji Oduwole as the new district superintendent. Oduwole, dressed in traditional Nigerian attire, celebrated with his family and friends. He shared his journey from Nigeria to the U.S., recalling his early days as a cab driver in Houston. Oduwole’s sister flew in from Nigeria to witness the event.

Strategic Plan

Bay City Council is planning more organizational changes. They discussed creating a Planning and Development Department at a budget workshop.
