Rafael Romero, accused of murdering Edna teen Lizbeth Medina in December of ’23, now faces a trial starting August 11th. The trial, originally set for February 10th, was delayed for further preparation. Judge Jack Marr approved the new date. Romero, in the U.S. on an expired visa, allegedly stabbed 16-year-old Lizbeth, whose absence at a parade prompted concern. Pretrial dates in May and June are scheduled. Lizbeth’s mother, Jacqueline, trusts that justice will be served despite delays. Romero has been deemed fit for trial.
