Grant to build more sidewalks

The city of Bay City has applied for a grant to build more sidewalks through the Texas Department of Transportation. If accepted, the city won’t have to pay for it. The transportation department previously installed sidewalks along Highway 35 for free. The City Engineering Technician applied for the grant and presented the details to the city council a few weeks ago. The proposed sidewalk route will connect existing sidewalks from John Cherry Elementary School to Sycamore Avenue, Tenie Holmes Elementary, and Bay City High School, with a connection to the new sidewalk on Highway 35.
