Matagorda County has been granted $25,000 by the Lower Colorado River Authority to purchase two ATVs to improve emergency response and beach patrols along the coast. The two four-seat ATVs and trailers will be used for search-and-rescue missions, public works projects, and other emergency responses. Matagorda County will also use the new vehicles to remove trash and debris from the beaches, install or update signage, and respond to emergency calls. The county has a 50-mile shoreline, with more than 20 miles open to vehicle traffic.
