Wharton County homeowners should prepare for another round of appraisal increases as new values are being mailed out. Last year, homeowners saw a 19% increase, 6% lower than the state average. The increase was not a comfort to property owners facing higher tax bills. Appraisal values are based on the sale prices of similar homes in the area in the previous year. This year, all school district properties are increasing on average.El Campo ISD properties are seeing the largest proposed increase at 26.34% and Wharton ISD homes at the bottom with a 6.17% increase.
