Replacement patrol car

In March, two Wharton County Sheriff’s Office vehicles collided, leaving one car totaled and the other damaged. Sheriff Shannon Srubar went to the commissioners court recetly to seek a replacement patrol car. The commissioners accepted an $11,300 settlement from insurance for the totaled 2018 Ford Explorer and granted Srubar permission to purchase a replacement vehicle for under $50,000. An additional $10,000 will be used to outfit the new vehicle with law enforcement equipment. Some of the money will come from the insurance settlement and the rest from the sheriff’s office budget.
