Drivers in Wharton may need to slow down due to construction on the incoming I-69 project. TxDOT wants to reduce the speed limit on U.S. 59 within city limits. The proposed speed limit would drop from 75 mph to 60 mph during construction. The City Council discussed this at Monday’s meeting. The city officials consulted with the police chief and city manager, who have no objections.
