In 2015, Commissioner Danny Garcia saw a need for more support for veterans. Now, in a new office at the Dr. Pattie Dodson Public Health Center in Victoria, veterans get benefits, counseling, and peer support. With paid staff, they’re reducing reliance on volunteers. Director John Williams says vets from nearby counties and big cities like Houston come there.
