The El Campo Police Department’s “Shop With A Cop”, recently allowed 60 kids to buy gifts for their families. Each child got $200 and was accompanied by a cop or dispatcher for shopping. The kids, who weren’t receiving gifts from elsewhere, represented 30 families. Younger kids mostly bought toys, while older ones chose health care items and gifts for their siblings. The program aims to build positive relationships between kids and law enforcement.
