A police officer in El Campo spotted an SUV dragging a gas station’s fuel pump and hose on Saturday night. When the officer checked the vehicle, it had no proper registration. They stopped the SUV and found James Bennette Smith inside. The officer detected the smell of marijuana, leading to a search of the vehicle. They discovered small amounts of cocaine, Alprazolam, and marijuana. Smith was arrested.
