A missing Victoria kayaker was found dead Wednesday afternoon by Matagorda County game wardens, two days after the Coast Guard called off their search for him. 37 year old Bradley Stafford was found about 3 p.m. washed ashore at Sand Point according to Petty Officer 1st Class Corinne Zilnicki, a Coast Guard spokesperson. Sand Point is on Matagorda Bay about 9 miles north of the location where he was last seen by a friend, wading in Boggy Bayou to cast a fishing line about 10 Saturday morning. The Coast Guard believes he went missing while kayaking because Stafford’s personal belongings were found on Boggy Bayou Beach next to the kayak drag marks.
