Bay Council Weighs Stricter Pet Rules

The Bay City Council is still fine-tuning updates to its animal control rules after months of community feedback. During Tuesday’s meeting, councilmembers reviewed draft changes that would cap households at five dogs or cats unless owners get a special permit. Other proposals would require microchipping, limit breeding without a permit, and set stricter care standards for pets and horses. No decisions were made yet, but council plans to revisit the ordinance on January 27th. For now, current animal control rules remain in place.
