Board Delays Superintendent Contract Vote

The Wharton ISD School Board has delayed a decision on extending Superintendent Oduwole’s contract, giving newer members more time to review the large amount of data in his evaluation. The board is set to revisit the issue at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Education Support Center on North Fulton Street. Since taking over in ’24, Oduwole has led the district through major challenges, including hurricane damage and a strained budget. He’s trimmed more than a million dollars in expenses, improved student-teacher ratios, and implemented tutoring programs that are already showing results.
