El Campo’s $14.8 million Tres Palacios Creek drainage project is one step closer to construction. The City Council approved National Appraisal Partners to handle appraisals needed to secure 52 easements, with costs capped at $119,600. City Manager Courtney Sladek says about 20 properties must be appraised due to their value, while others may be appraised if requested. The project will widen and concrete-line the creek from U.S. 59 to Jackson Street. Funded 99% by a state grant, the upgrade aims to reduce flooding in key areas of El Campo.
