The 18th annual Ricebelt Antique Tractor Pull took place in El Campo despite the scorching heat. The event drew a slightly smaller crowd due to the high temperatures, but nearly 100 pulls still occurred. The organizers considered it a success as long as they raised money for the Legion. Around 225 people attended, including locals and travelers from Basile, La. The Kiddie Pull participants received free snow cones, which were a hit. Besides the pulls, visitors could admire a display of antique machinery. Volunteers of all generations worked together to support veterans.
