New Year’s Gunfire Leads to Arrest

On New Year’s morning in Bay City, neighbors reported gunshots. Officers tracked the noise to a house on Rugeley Street. As they got close, more shots rang out, so they took cover. Using the PA system, police ordered everyone outside. Several people came out and admitted they’d been drinking since the night before and firing guns in the backyard for fun. 22-year-old Kenny Lopez confessed he was one of the shooters. Because he was already out on bond and not allowed to have firearms, he was arrested for unlawful carrying of a weapon. Police seized two guns.
