Three Edna High School seniors — Miley Genett, Kyrstin Nieto, and Kyle Zheng — made school history by advancing to the UIL Congress State Meet in Austin, their first-ever appearance. The trio debated real legislation inside the Texas Capitol, and Zheng took home the silver medal after reaching Super Congress. Their coach, Mark Ruiz, praised the students’ dedication, saying their hard work since September paid off. Each student authored proposals, including one calling for a $5,000 teacher tax credit and another requiring community service for graduation.
