The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship March is Saturday, January 17th, kicking off at 9 a.m. from the historic county courthouse. In its 44th year, the community walk heads to the Boys and Girls Club with speeches, music, and parts of King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Ninety-year-old founder Mozelle Stephens is still leading, hoping for a bigger crowd than last year’s 200. The event funds scholarships for over 20 local students of color. Stephens says she’s grateful to keep carrying the torch for justice right here at home.
