Matagorda County is moving forward with a major eighty-six million dollar federal project focused on coastal protection and navigation safety. The project will dredge the Colorado River channel and reuse that sand to help rebuild and protect Sargent Beach. County leaders say the work will reduce erosion, improve storm protection, and keep river traffic moving safely. Officials add the project supports local jobs, protects homes and businesses, and strengthens the Port of Bay City’s role in the regional economy.
