Nonprofit Feeds and Connects Seniors

For more than 20 years, Bay City-based Economic Action Committee of the Gulf Coast has brought local seniors together during the holidays with free Thanksgiving and Christmas luncheons. Nearly 200 seniors attended the Thanksgiving meal this year, with more than 150 served at the Christmas event across Bay City and Matagorda County. The nonprofit, founded in 1965, supports low-income residents through food programs, transportation, and utility assistance. Leaders say these gatherings do more than provide meals. They help reduce isolation and support seniors living on fixed incomes throughout Matagorda County.
