An early morning fire destroyed a vacant home on Palacios Street in El Campo last week. Fire officials say the blaze may have started from an electrical issue. Owner Steve Robinson, who was remodeling the property, was asleep next door when a relative driving by alerted him. El Campo police arrived first to find the house and a nearby trailer fully engulfed. Nineteen firefighters responded within minutes and contained the flames, but the 1940-built home was a total loss. The uninsured property was valued at under $28,000. No injuries were reported.
