The Wharton County Junior College Senior Citizens Program is calling on locals to lace up for its annual 5K Stride and Stroll this Saturday at Riverfront Park in Wharton. Organizers say every entry helps keep Meals on Wheels, rides, meals and activities going for area seniors. The walk starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Central Pavilion on Elm Street and same-day sign-ups are welcome. Entry fees run $40 for adults, $30 for kids and $150 per team, with a discount for veterans. Awards will be handed out for speed, age and costumes.
