With classes just days away, Wharton ISD will hold a special meeting today to decide how it will enforce the new state ban on student cell phones. Board members are weighing a full ban versus secure storage options during school hours. They’re also expected to appoint a new junior high principal, a high school assistant principal, and fill the vacant trustee seat left by Sherrell Speer, who retired after 21 years. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Education Support Center on North Fulton in Wharton.
