For the first time since 1994, Wharton Babe Ruth League’s 16-18U team is back in the World Series, now competing in Ocala, Florida. Players from Wharton, Bay City, El Campo, and nearby towns earned their shot after years of hard work. Manager Roy Mendiola says it’s a dream come true for many. Their pool games include matchups against China and Canada. Win or lose, this is a historic run for Wharton County baseball—three decades in the making.
