$9M to Boost Bay City Job Training Programs

Wharton County Junior College’s Bay City campus secured $9 million from the state to boost its skilled trades and nuclear training programs. The Construction Trades program will get $5 million over two years to grow job-ready training for local students. Another $4 million will expand the Nuclear Power Technology program, backing Texas’ push for more nuclear workers. This win highlights strong local advocacy and long-term partnerships, especially with Texas A&M and STP. It marks a big step for Matagorda County’s workforce development and economic growth.
