The Bay City Tribune has donated $10,000 to the Economic Action Committee of the Gulf Coast, a nonprofit serving Matagorda and Wharton counties since 1965. The gift supports programs for seniors, low-income families, and those needing utility help. So far this year the group has delivered over 10,000 meals and helped hundreds avoid utility shutoffs. The donation was made possible by the Carmage and Martha Ann Walls Foundation, which empowers local newspapers to give back to their communities.
