El Campo is aiming to expand pedestrian safety by adding new sidewalks along West Jackson, Hoskins, Broadway, and Webb. City Council unanimously voted to apply for a state transportation grant that could cover most of the cost. The project, called “El Campo Safe Routes,” would improve access to downtown, schools, and parks. If awarded, the city will use transportation credits to help meet the 20% match. The work would include ADA ramps and crosswalks and must be completed within a short timeframe.
