Bay City is moving forward with a long-awaited aquatics center. The City Council approved a deal with the Bay City Community Development Corporation to invest $3 million and donate land behind the Civic Center for the $15 million project. If not finished in three years, the land returns to the city. The BCCDC will oversee construction, with the YMCA running daily operations. Set to serve all of Matagorda County, the center will offer public swim programs and youth activities. Completion is expected within a year.
