El Campo ISD is upgrading Ricebird Stadium with a new digital video scoreboard, replacing the aging model that’s been failing. Funded in part by a $150,000 donation from Prosperity Bank, the near $505 thousand dollar project will begin construction in July. The rest of the cost will be covered by advertising revenue. School officials say the new board, made by Neveo, will be fully digital and more reliable. It’s expected to be ready for football season. Lighting upgrades were discussed but postponed by the school board.
