In Edna, Ramon Palacios was sentenced to 50 years for the ’24 murder of his ex-girlfriend, Roseann Martinez. He pled guilty to first-degree murder with a deadly weapon. Martinez’s family filled the Jackson County courtroom as her mother tearfully described the loss. Palacios, arrested after a neighbor reported gunfire, had confessed on scene. As part of the plea deal, he cannot appeal or contact Martinez’s family. He now awaits transfer to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
