Wharton will hold a public town hall today at Just Do It Now, Inc. on MLK Blvd to update residents on the Colorado River levee project. Requested by District 1 Councilman Burnell Neal, the meeting will feature Planning Director Gwyneth Teves and U.S. Army Corps reps. Construction began last fall but faced weather delays. The project aims to protect flood-prone areas near U.S. 59, where much of the city was submerged during Hurricane Harvey. Phase 1 is ongoing as hurricane season nears.
