In Bay City, a memorial ceremony was held Wednesday to honor the 2,977 victims of the 9/11 attacks. Local police, firefighters, officials, and veterans gathered at First Presbyterian Church to ring the bell 2,977 times, starting at 7:46 a.m. The event continued rain or shine, with a canopy, coffee, and donuts provided. Later, local first responders climbed 110 flights of stairs at Fit for Life gym to honor the fallen 9/11 firefighters. The stair climb symbolizes the heroic efforts of the New York first responders.
