El Campo is preparing for future growth with a city council-appointed committee set to update its comprehensive plan. The plan, last updated in 2017, focuses on development, quality of life, and capital improvements. The city received a $300,000 grant to fund the 18-month project, expected to finish by Fall ’25. Mayor Eugene Bustamante will represent the council, while committee members provide local insight. Community engagement events will take place, though participation is optional. Previous updates have met most goals, according to City Planner Krystal Hasselmeier.
