A tragic accident occurred early Thursday morning on U.S. 59 Southbound between Wharton and El Campo, resulting in the death of 50-year-old Thomas Pacheco from Laredo. His Volvo semi-truck collided with a line of four other semi-trucks, causing a chain reaction. The crash led to a complete traffic standstill as emergency crews responded.
