Several organizations, including the American Red Cross and H-E-B Grocery, helped set up a temporary shelter at the Bay City Civic Center, Bay City officials reported. The shelter opened Wednesday afternoon, offering food, water, cots, sleeping bags, and air conditioning to those affected by Hurricane Beryl.Some residents were moved from the Bay City Service Center to the Civic Center.
