George Aleman, a former sheriff in Calhoun County, passed away last weekend in Port Lavaca at the age of 71. He dedicated 41 years to law enforcement, including serving as a lieutenant with the Wharton Police Department in the 1980s. His legacy of excellence influenced many junior officers. Aleman’s funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Bauer Community Center.
