In El Campo, a man narrowly avoided harm at Friendship Park on Saturday when another man started waving a stick. The suspect, Yovany Martinez, threatened the victim, who had to defend himself. The reason for the confrontation is still unclear. Martinez got arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and also had a warrant for theft under $100. He was taken to Wharton County Jail after processing.
