Costly Sewer Repair

South Wharton Street in El Campo is set to open today after a costly sewer repair. The street was shut down for nearly three months due to a collapsed sewer line from a storm. The city is now looking at a $4.6 million bill to fix the aging infrastructure, which could lead to higher utility rates for residents. A public hearing on the rate increase is scheduled for April 22.
