The Victoria City Council has passed a new rule to increase the city’s budget by $45,000 for the upcoming May election. Initially, the 2024 budget had set aside $60,000 for the election costs. However, with the former Mayor Jeff Bauknight deciding to contest for a seat in the Texas House of Representatives, the city found itself in need of a special election to choose a new mayor.
