A Bay City home was lost to a fire caused by a cooking accident, resulting in about $250,000 in damages. The homeowner was frying fish when the oil spilled and ignited the kitchen. He was treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns. The fire was put out in 40 minutes, but the home was uninsured. Firefighters says always have a fire extinguisher handy when cooking.
